Biography

There are few things that are as rewarding as experiencing an encounter in the wild with a Majestic Bald Eagle or a Great Blue Heron.  To have that experience in the early morning light, and you being the only one around, makes it even more rewarding.  Having being born and raised in North Carolina, I spent a large amount of my free time exploring nature.  When I decided to enter the field of photography, it was a natural decision to choose wildlife and nature.

I hope that through my photography that I can share a little bit of what I experience in the wild with you.  Please take some time to explore my galleries.  I think you will be inspired and who knows, you may decide to start in the field of wildlife photography.  If you do, just remember to live by the wildlife photographer's creed...

MY EQUIPMENT

When I am out in the field shooting, I am often asked what type of equipment I use.  Mostly I use Nikon equipment.  My primary camera is the Nikon D300 with a Nikon 80 - 400mm VR lens.  Additionally, I have a Nikon D50 as a back-up camera.  For support and lighting, I use a Manftotto Tripod and Head, and Nikon SB-800 Flash Unit. I also have a Sigma 50-500mm and various Nikon lenses.  For close-up photography, I have the Nikon R1 Macro Flash Kit.
